So the hints I’ve gotten from my dash about the state of the TW fandom since Monday night suggest that if I finally watch this week’s episode I am going to be filled with unholy rage of some sort or another. I have a confession to make. Y’all, I just really really love The Good Wife.

A CBS legal drama.

How is this happening to me?! Is this a definitive sign that I am old?

Does anybody else watch this? I started it because the critics seem to LOVE it and there were 4 full-length seasons to power through and it streams free with Amazon Prime but… CBS legal drama? Really?

Hey remember like last year or the year before or something, idk, when Chris Colfer just sort of emerged from “adorable cutie” to “hot piece of ass wait what is happening” and every livejournal photo thread (remember livejournal?) came complete with at least one “I just hope somebody is tapping that, surely somebody is tapping that, how awesome is it that somebody is tapping that” conversation?

And invariably somebody would be all shocked and offended that people would speculate about somebody tapping that. And somebody else would be like DARREN!!! is clearly tapping that. And somebody else would post a long 3 paragraph analysis of whether they believed somebody was tapping or perhaps had tapped that based on the way his hips moved and he held his elbows or something. And then a 4th person would be like, oh my god, whether or not he is getting play at the moment, when he gets a public boyfriend, we are going to be insane.

And look at where we are now.

I don’t know I just had a moment of fandom nostalgia.

I do! I got glasses when I was like 8 (I remember being SUPER EXCITED that I could see the actual leaves on the trees instead of a smear of green). I wore contacts for like… 20 years? starting in middle school, but I have been back in glasses for the last 7 or 8. I think I might make the move back to contacts soon, though. I really miss cute sunglasses.

41: When was the last time you got really really happy and why?

Oh god. Probably something really tragic, like the holding-hands-in-Paris nonsense. I feel much more even-keeled lately; no big emotional swings, probably b/c I am too busy for them. Also, as stressed and tired as I am right now, I am actually CRAZY happy with my life in general at the moment, so my baseline is already pretty high. OH! A friend and I are starting up a cool research project, and that makes me really happy.

Man. Hmmm. So lately I’m not listening to a lot of music - all podcasts, all the time - but I recently went back to Stars and awww, that period of my life when I was listening to a whole bunch of Canadian indie was a pretty good period, too.

Oh lord, what year was that? 2004? We were both in the Harry Potter fandom and went to a screening of PoA in NYC. I was just finishing up a 5-year period of breastfeeding (LONG story - blame Crohn’s, basically) and my tolerance was shot to hell, so she got me wasted on sangria after the movie, and that was that. We work well together because we are the same kind of hateful princesses, and we’re both really good at doing what makes us happy and not being offended when each other does the same thing. We are also remarkably similar and the husband and the kids don’t see her as a friend - she’s ‘like the sister you really, really like.’

27: Name 5 facts about your appearance:

I wear glasses. I have very green eyes; none of this hazel business. I am greying and will not go down without a fight. The greying is making my thick hair curlier and wavier than it has ever been; I spent a shitload of time trying to put curl in my hair when I was a teenager, and all I had to do was wait. I am a classic pear with ass for days. :D

29: What is a strange talent that you have?

Hmmm. I don’t… know? Hmm. (I need one of these, because this question comes up a lot on memes and I never have an answer. Somebody please suggest a strange talent for me to develop? Because inadequacy-by-meme is just really pathetic.)

Oh, fuck, the daughter has an orthodontist appointment this morning, UGH.

I play WAY too much websudoku. I am currently marathoning The Good Wife and find it WAY less odious than expected for a CBS drama. I keep CVS brand peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and a small bottle of rum in my desk drawer on campus for emergencies. I drive a green Prius. I am currently knitting a GIANT blanket for a good school friend for her wedding in August, and I am never. going. to finish in time.

4: Were you a part of any “clique” in high school?

I was that girl that had one foot in a lot of cliques. I spent a lot of time with the band kids, and then my senior year I had a tight group of the smart, creative, as-alternative-as-we-could-be-considering-the-circumstances-kids. I rediscovered a few of them on facebook amid all the very conservative Christian republicans we grew up with, and we keep having these moments of shining, shared resistance. So that’s kind of great.

17: Have you ever broken a bone? If so, how?

Not really. I probably broke some toes doing gymnastics barefoot in the grass, but nothing that was interesting. :D

48: When was the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt?

OMG my daughter and I got the giggles about something this morning and I did then, but I have NO MEMORY of what it was. That’s not a very satisfying story, is it? :D

11: Do you like your siblings? Why or why not?

I have one sister, and she did something to me about 10 years ago that has been a real stumbling block to ever having a close relationship with her; she basically stole my identity to get out of trouble with the police. She’s GREAT to have a beer with, but I don’t think we’ll be close again. The sibling I’m ‘closest’ to is my husband’s brother, who I like very very much.

19: Where did you grow up?

East Texas, which is definitely the South and I will fight anybody who says otherwise.

38: Would ever adopt kids?

In theory: sure! In practice: I have 2 biokids and the thought of adding more makes me want to cry.
